Today in History: Thomas Jefferson Is Born

U.S. Founding Father Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743. As a member of the Continental Congress, Jefferson was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence. In 1786 he penned an influential act for establishing religious freedom in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Jefferson also served his country as the third president of the United States (1801-1809).
